SHAH ALAM – Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has denied rumors that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be nominated as a Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate in the upcoming Kemaman by-election.
"No, no, and no. It does not make sense," Hadi stressed at a press conference during the 69th Pas Muktamar here today.
The by-election is being held after the Terengganu Elections Court annulled the election victory of Pas candidate Che Alias Hamid, following a successful petition by voter Wan Mohamad Hisham Wan Abdul Jalil, who alleged that bribery had occurred with the intention to influence voters during the 15th general election.
Pas decided not to appeal the decision.
