Turkish police detained more than 300 suspected Islamic State extremists in coordinated raids across 47 provinces, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

Security forces seized weapons, cash and digital materials during the nationwide operations, Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci said on X.

Turkey has repeatedly cracked down on suspected IS cells accused of maintaining logistics and recruitment networks inside the country. The militant group has carried out or claimed several deadly attacks in Turkey over the past decade, including bombings targeting civilians, security forces and tourist sites.

In December, three police officers were killed and several others wounded in clashes with a suspected IS cell in the western province of Yalova, authorities said.

Turkish officials have also linked Islamic State to an attack on the Israeli consulate in Istanbul in April, when the building was not operational. One suspected attacker was killed in a shootout with police and two others were wounded. The group has not formally claimed responsibility for the attack.
