Mohamad Danish Iskandar Sabturani never expected his efforts to develop technical skills and gain practical experience would earn him recognition as one of the best graduates in his programme.
The ADTEC JTM Kampus Sandakan graduate received the Best Graduate Award under the Department of Skills Development (2025 Graduate Session) for the Certificate in Telecommunication Technology at the 29th ADTEC JTM Convocation for the Kota Kinabalu Borneo Region, here.
Danish, who now works with Telekom Malaysia (TM), said the recognition made the effort he had put into his studies and examinations worthwhile.
He said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) provided him with practical skills and experience that prepared him for a career in the telecommunications field.
“TVET is not the last choice, but it is the choice to move forward,” he said.
Danish said he regularly sought guidance from instructors on tasks he could undertake and used his free time to assist them while improving his skills and preparing for his final examinations.
He said the experience helped him understand the difference between learning in an educational environment and working in the industry, where greater responsibility was required.
“TVET helps a lot. It gives us the skills and knowledge to work towards the future,” he said.
Danish, who completed practical training before securing permanent employment, advised students entering the workforce not to be afraid of taking risks, saying practical experience could help them adapt to industry demands.
“Do not be afraid to take any risks,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Nur Aiman Yussof of ADTEC JTM Kampus Kota Kinabalu was also recognised with the Best Graduate Award under the Department of Skills Development (2025 Graduate Session) for the Certificate in Computer Technology (System).
Aiman said the growing demand for technical skills presented opportunities for young people to consider TVET, and encouraged juniors and prospective students to make full use of the opportunities available.
The achievements of the two graduates come as the Government seeks to strengthen TVET participation among school leavers.
