
SEMPORNA: Some two acres of bushland in Kampung Sum Sum were destroyed in fire on Monday.
The State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call following the fire at 6.38pm.
A team of nine members from Semporna Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene, which is about 8km from the station.
“When the team arrived, the team reported that the bush fire had destroyed an area of about two acres.
“The team immediately carried out the operation to put out the fire and managed to bring the fire under control at 7.25pm,” said the department.
It added that after assessing there was no longer any danger, the operation ended at 7.28pm.
