SANDAKAN: The Marine Police Force (PPM) foiled an attempt to misappropriate subsidised diesel during a raid at a jetty here on Wednesday.
Region 4 PPM commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman said a team acted on a public tip-off at around 3.55pm and caught two men transferring fuel from a steel cargo vessel into a 15,000-litre tanker lorry.
The two suspects, aged 25 and 28, were detained after failing to produce valid source documents from an authorised supplier for the fuel.
Police seized the cargo vessel, the tanker, approximately 28,000 litres of diesel, and related equipment, with the total haul estimated at RM2,082,760.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
