SANDAKAN: Two male skippers, believed from the Philippines, were expelled while trying to trespass the country’s waters in the Nunuyan area, here, Tuesday.
Sandakan Region 4 Marine Police Commanding Officer DSP Rusdin Banin said the action was carried out through “Ops Gelora”.
He said the eviction operation was carried out by a marine police team from the Sandakan Region 4 Marine Police Headquarters.
“While patrolling the area, the team detected two suspicious boats from a neighbouring country entering the country’s waters before they were intercepted.
“During interrogation, the skippers claimed they wanted to drop off seafood here. The two along with their boats were then escorted out of the country’s waters,” he said.
Rusdin urged the coastal and maritime community to channel information pertaining to any illegal or suspicious activities at sea via Sabah Region 4 Marine Police Force’s WhatsApp at 013-9391197 or go directly to the nearest police station.
