PAPAR: Police here have detained two local men after allegedly causing damages to a home at Kampung Ulu Kimanis, Monday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the suspects aged 28 and 36-year-old were detained following a two-day operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Kinarut Police Station on April 9 and 10.
Initially, Kamaruddin said a report was lodged by a complainant after he was “visited” by six men – who were in a drunken state – on April 8 at 11pm.
He said the men then acted aggressively by throwing bricks and woods at the victim’s home which caused damages to the house and car.
“One of the suspects also threatened the victim’s wife. Following this incident, the victim lodged a police report,” he added.
Acting on information, Kamaruddin said two of the suspects were detained at Kampung Ulu Kimanis along with the confiscation of bricks and woods that were used during the “assault”.
Further investigations revealed that the incident was motivated by misunderstanding of construction material sales, he said.
He added that both men were remanded for two days to facilitate police investigation while search of the four other suspects is continuing.
He urged those with information regarding the incident to contact the police or visit the nearest police station to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 448 and 506 of the Penal Code.
