PENAMPANG: Police arrested two local men suspected of involvement in a cable theft incident near Kampung Sugud early Friday.
Acting Penampang Police Chief ASP Arisanti Aziz said the suspects, aged 20 and 37, had been detained by members of the public before being handed over to police.
She said a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) team rushed to the scene after receiving information from the Penampang District Control Centre at about 3am.
Police seized two cable cutters and a roll of cable wire believed to be linked to the incident.
The suspects were taken to the Penampang District Police Headquarters to assist investigations under Section 431 of the Penal Code.
