LAHAD DATU: A 17-year-old teen was among two individuals arrested in separate areas on Wednesday for drugs.

District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division acted on information and arrested a man in suspicious circumstances in the mangrove area around 9.30am.

Police found six translucent packets containing substances believed to be Syabu, weighing 52.71 grammes.

A boat and engine suspected to have been used in drug trafficking were also seized. The 17-year-old suspect did not have a valid identification document.

Investigations are being conducted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In a separate operation, a 59-year-old man without identification was arrested in a plantation area in the same village.

Police found a translucent plastic containing suspected Syabu in his possession, and a urine test confirmed he had taken drugs.

He is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Dzulbaharin said the arrests reflected Lahad Datu Police Headquarters’ commitment to combating criminal activities, including drugs, in the district.
