LAHAD DATU: Two houses with shops were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Silam Camp, here, Saturday.
A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they received a distress call at 3.43am via MERS999.
A team of firefighters, assisted by Pasukan Bomba Bantuan as well as Pasukan Bomba Sukarela (PBS) Silam, rushed to the scene in a fire engine.
“The team carried out fire extinguishing work using a stream with three spouts from open water sources (river), said the spokesman, adding the fire was brought under control at 5.25am and the operation ended at 7.43am.

Read more According to the department, both houses were completely destroyed, no casualties were reported.
The cause of fire and losses are still under investigation.
This was the second fire in the same village, with the first fire occurring last Thursday which destroyed a wooden house.
