LAHAD DATU: Two people were injured when the five-tonne lorry they were traveling in was involved in an accident with a 10-tonne lorry at the junction of SK Bukit Belacon, Jalan Sandakan-Lahad Datu, here, Thursday.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call following the incident at 6.42am. A team from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene in a fire machinery and EMRS vehicle.

Advertisement“The commander of the operation reported that two people from the five-tonne lorry were injured. “They were given initial treatment by the EMRS team at the scene and later sent to hospital for further treatment,” said a spokesman for the department, adding that the 10-tonne lorry driver escaped unhurt.

The team called off the operation at 7.24am after they made sure there was no other danger at the scene.
