Two injured in Ranau plunge

RANAU: A man was seriously injured while another suffered minor injuries after the lorry they were riding in plunged into a three-metre deep ravine near here early Tuesday morning.

Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib said the incident happened on Jalan Ranau-Tambunan near Kg Tungou at 3.50am.

“A call was received through the Station Line about this incident and seven personnel led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Becket bin Gumat were rushed to the location.

“Arriving at the scene 17km from the station, we found that there was an accident involving a three-tonne Isuzu Truck that overturned and plunged into a 10-foot deep ravine.

Read more “There were two victims aged 56 and 35 involved who managed to crawl their way out of the wrecked vehicle before the Fire Brigade arrived,” he said.

Ridwan said the rescue team provided treatment to the victims before being taken to Ranau Hospital.

He called on all motorists to be extra careful when driving across the district, especially on narrow and bending village roads.
