
RANAU: A 30-year-old local became the latest victim injured while scaling Mount Kinabalu last Friday.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, PPgB Ridwan bin Mohd Taib said the incident happened at KM8.5 of the Mount Kinabalu climbing trail, at about 9.33am.
“We received a call through the Station Line and a team of three personnel from the Mount Kinabalu search and rescue team (Mosar) led by Operating Officer, PBB Quinten Gangok rushed to the scene.
“When the team arrived at the location situated 2.5km away from the Mosar post, we found that there was a local climber who had fallen, with sprained right ankle and an injured left palm.

According to Ridwan, the victim was then handed over to the Ministry of Health Ambulance and then sent to the hospital for further treatment, and the whole operation ended at 4.16pm.
He added it was the third case for the month of September 2023 and it also marked the 38th victim of illness or injury on Mount Kinabalu so far this year.
