Two male bodies found in separate incidents in Mengkarak and Nibong Tebal

Police discovered a decomposed body in Mengkarak, Pahang, while another unidentified man was found in a river in Nibong Tebal, Penang

KUANTAN: Police found a partially decomposed male body in the Karmen Estate area in Mengkarak this morning.

Bera district police chief Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir said the station received information from the public about the discovery around 10 am.

“Initial investigations at the scene did not find any elements that pointed towards criminal activity,” he said in a statement.

He said the cause of death and the body’s identity are still under investigation.

The body has been sent to the Temerloh Hospital’s forensic unit for an autopsy.

Zulkiflee urged anyone with information or missing family members to assist the investigation.

Meanwhile, in Nibong Tebal, the body of an unidentified man was found floating in a river.

The discovery was made near the Jalan Titi Timbul bridge today.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director John Sagun Francis said they received a police call at 9.28 am.

The Operation Release Team confirmed a male body was floating in the river as reported.

“The PKO then carried out the work of retrieving the body and handed it over to the police for further action,” he said.

A total of five firefighters from the Nibong Tebal station were involved in the operation.

The operation ended at 10.42 am.
