Kota Kinabalu: Two massage therapists were each fined RM600 by the Magistrate’s Court here for fighting in public.
Sonny Edip, 54, and Norziana Abdillah, 27, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to committing affray at Madam A Reflexology, Kampung Air, here, at about 7pm on Sept 4.
Both were fined RM600, or one month’s jail if they failed to pay the fine.
The charge under Section 160 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of six months, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.
According to the prosecution, Sonny reprimanded Norziana for smoking in the premises.
CCTV footage showed Norziana throwing a chair at Sonny, who then retaliated by hitting her on the head.
Both later lodged police reports over the incident. Sonny complained of pain in his right wrist, while Norziana reported no injuries.
Counsel Carmen Khoo, representing both accused, appealed for a lenient sentence, saying they had expressed remorse and were now on good terms.
