Two men in their 50s arrested in Gombak after fleeing a police check in Sri Damansara, ramming a police car and hitting two parked vehicles.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men travelling in a Nissan Grand Livina were arrested at Jalan Sungai Pusu, Gombak, after fleeing a police check at Persiaran Dagang, Sri Damansara, last night.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said the suspects, in their 50s, had refused to stop for a police inspection at 11.57 pm and fled by driving dangerously.

They were later traced to Jalan Sungai Pusu, about 18 km away, and arrested.

He said the suspects had earlier acted aggressively by reversing the car into a police vehicle before fleeing and subsequently hitting two parked public vehicles by the roadside.

“Record checks found that the first suspect had 23 drug-related records, four criminal records and one wanted record, while the second suspect had eight drug-related records, 10 criminal records and six records involving other offences,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Sections 186 and 279 of the Penal Code.

Shamsudin also advised the public not to spread inaccurate information on social media or make any speculation regarding the incident.

Witnesses with information are urged to come forward at the nearest police station or contact the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 03-79662222 to assist in investigations.
