MENUMBOK: Two men were arrested separately by police here for allegedly abusing drugs, said Beaufort district police chief Supt Champin Piuh.
He said the arrests were made during continuous police operations and enforcement efforts in the Menumbok area.
“Urine screening found that the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said.
The suspects were taken to the Beaufort District Police Headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department for further action before being detained at the Beaufort Police Station lock-up.
Champin said the Royal Malaysia Police would not compromise on drug abuse regardless of age.
“Hence, firm action will continue to be taken against anyone involved to ensure drug abuse does not continue to spread and harm society and the younger generation,” he said.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“There is no room for any party to turn Beaufort district into a location for drug abuse activities that could damage the future of society and the younger generation,” he said.
