POLICE have detained two men in connection with the shooting death of a man believed to be the owner of a car wash outlet along Jalan Besar Permatang Keling in Nibong Tebal last Friday.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the two male suspects, both in their 30s, were arrested separately within the state. Investigators are still working to establish the motive for the killing.
“Suspects have been remanded until Jan 24 and Jan 25 respectively to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Tuesday.
The victim, a local man also in his 30s, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment after being shot several times at close range on his body and legs by an unidentified assailant.
Initial investigations indicate that the victim was approached by two men on a motorcycle, with one of them remaining on the vehicle while the other carried out the shooting. Police have not ruled out further arrests as investigations continue. - January 21, 2026
