Two police officers and five personnel in Pahang have been suspended from duty after being charged in court over suspected drug abuse.

KUANTAN: Two police officers and five personnel arrested on suspicion of drug abuse in Mentakab, Temerloh, have been suspended from duty.

Pahang Police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the suspension is pending the outcome of their court case.

The men, aged between their 20s and 40s, were charged in court last week.

They were detained during a raid at 2.15 am on Jan 3.

Initial urine screening tests found one officer and five personnel positive for drugs.

Yahaya urged all parties to stop speculating, as action has been taken against those believed to be involved.

The case is being investigated under Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
