  • Donald Trump's approval rating increased by five points to 45 per cent in a recent AP/NORC survey, with his economic handling approval also rising to 43 per cent.
  • A separate Gallup survey indicated his overall approval at 40 per cent, though his foreign policy approval reached a new low of 39 per cent.
  • Over half of those surveyed (53 per cent) approved of his measures to tackle crime.
  • More than half of respondents agreed with the president's use of the National Guard and federal agents to address crime in major cities.
  • A significant majority of Republican voters (82 per cent) found federal deployment of the National Guard "somewhat acceptable", marking a shift in their traditional stance on federal intervention.
