KOTA KINABALU: Fire and Rescue Department teams responded to two separate car fires involving Proton Saga LMSTs in Kota Marudu and Tuaran on Monday.
The first incident occurred at Kampung Lutong 2, Kota Marudu, at 4.16pm, where a Proton Saga LMST was completely engulfed in flames before a seven-member team from the local station extinguished it using a hose reel.
The second case was reported at 6.32pm in Tuaran twonship, where a six-member team quickly contained a fire that damaged 30 per cent of another Proton Saga LMST, mainly at the engine compartment.

The Kota Marudu and Tuaran fires were fully extinguished by 4.43pm and 6.40pm.
