Two schoolboys under 16 were killed when their motorcycle collided with a car at Jalan Nyior Chabang, Langkawi, while heading home from school.

ALOR SETAR: Two schoolboys on their way home from school were killed after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at Jalan Nyior Chabang, Langkawi today.

Langkawi police chief ACP Khairul Azhar Nuruddin said the two victims, both aged under 16, were pronounced dead at the scene in the 1.51 pm incident.

“Initial investigations found that the Yamaha Y15 motorcycle ridden by the two victims was travelling from Simpang Kenyum towards Nyior Chabang when they were believed to have overtaken two cars travelling in the same direction.

“The motorcycle then veered into the opposite lane before colliding with a car travelling in the opposite direction,” he said in a statement today.

He said the bodies had been taken to the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Maliha Hospital for post-mortem examinations before being handed over to their families for burial arrangements.

The three car drivers involved were unhurt but traumatised, while the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Khairul Azhar also urged witnesses and those with dashcam footage from the surrounding area to come forward to assist the investigation.
