Two women were injured, one with burns, after a fire gutted 90% of a house in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Petani

SUNGAI PETANI: Two women were injured after a fire broke out at a house in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Pasir.

The Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 11.51 am.

Eleven firefighters from the Tikam Batu and Sungai Petani stations responded to the scene. They were assisted by the Bakar Arang and Sungai Petani Volunteer Fire Brigades.

The blaze destroyed approximately 90% of the single-storey wooden house.

A woman in her 40s sustained first-degree burns to both her legs. Another woman in her 50s suffered from breathing difficulties.

Both victims received initial treatment at the scene before being transported to a hospital for further care.

Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 1.10 pm. The full operation concluded at 3.07 pm.
