Hundreds gather to bid farewell as victims of the FSO Sepat lifeboat accident are buried in Kuantan after post-mortem.

KUANTAN: The remains of two workers who died in the incident at the Sepat Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) facility off the Terengganu-Kelantan waters yesterday were laid to rest at the Setali Islamic burial grounds here today.

Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 38, whose funeral prayer was held at Masjid Imam Ash-Shafie KotaSAS here, was buried at 5.45 pm, while Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustamam, 28, was laid to rest about 30 minutes later after similar prayer at Masjid Cenderawasih.

Prior to that, post-mortem examinations were conducted on the deceased at the Forensic Medicine Department of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Terengganu before the bodies were released to their families.

Hundreds of family members, colleagues and friends gathered to pay their final respects.

Media reported yesterday that three oil platform workers were killed while another sustained serious injuries in an incident during lifeboat maintenance work at FSO Sepat at about 12.50 pm.

The third fatality was Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38, while Mohd Taufik Mohd Ruslan, 37, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at HSNZ.
