UAAP bans NU assistant coach Paul Du for remainder of season after altercation with UST's Dysangco

MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP basketball commissioner’s Office has suspended National University assistant coach Paul Du from all basketball-related activities, including 5-on-5 and 3x3 across all divisions, for the remainder of Season 89 following an ugly post-game altercation.

The penalty stems from an incident during the traditional handshake line after NU’s match against the University of Santo Tomas on Oct. 10 at the Araneta Coliseum.

According to the Commissioner's Office, Du delivered a forceful elbow to UST assistant coach Arsenio Dysangco, sending the opposing mentor crashing to the floor and requiring him to receive medical attention.

The suspension takes effect immediately and will sideline Du until the official end of the season. The Commissioner's Office also noted that additional sanctions may still be imposed by the UAAP Board.

National University retains the right to appeal the decision. TMT
