Uber Cup 2026: Malaysia goes down fighting to China in quarter-final

MALAYSIA went down fighting in the Uber Cup 2026 quarter-final to China today at the Forum Horsens.

The 16-time champions were too strong for Malaysia, who were making their first appearance in the last eight since 2010.

In the first singles, Wang Zhi Yi defeated K Letshanaa 21-17, 21-18, followed by another victory for China's first doubles pair.

It was a neck-to-neck fight between China’s world No. 1 pair, Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning and world No. 22 Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting.

The Malaysian pair went down 14-21 in the first set, then came back 21-16, before losing the match 13 -21 in the decider.

Malaysia had rested senior M. Thinaah for the tie to allow Carmen-Xin Yee to gain experience.

Wong Ling Ching went down in the second singles to China's Chen Yu Fei 21-10, 21-10.

Malaysia will also take on China in the Thomas Cup quarter-final tomorrow. – April 30, 2026
