Kota Kinabalu: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) should open its doors to international students to enhance its global standing and bring economic benefits to the local community, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Speaking at UCSF’s Fourth Convocation ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Hajiji said strategic ties with institutions in Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines reinforce Sabah’s position as a regional education hub within Bimp-Eaga.
He noted that the State Government-owned university plays a key role in producing competitive local talent, including supplying a skilled workforce for Sabah's tourism and hospitality sector.
Hajiji added that the State Government remains committed to human capital development, highlighting an allocation of over RM100 million for the Sabah State Government Scholarship (BKNS) this year.
He urged students to pursue studies in strategic growth sectors, including oil, gas and energy, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Tvet), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
