Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Knights Archery Club (Kesatria) organised a traditional archery programme at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Traditional Archery Arena recently.
Its president Md Suhaimi Sapiee said 21 officers from UiTM took part in the half-day programme in collaboration with Rawja Archery.
“This is in line with our effort to introduce traditional archery to public institutions of higher learning in the State.
“It is specifically intended to give real practical exposure to the 21 officers involved in traditional archery so that this sport can be well received as one of the sports events or one of the co-curricular subjects at UiTM in the future,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to UiTM’s Deputy Rector of Student Affairs Datin Dr Rafidah Datuk Salleh for her support in the development of traditional archery.
Meanwhile, Rafidah hopes the success of the programme will help the sport expand beyond the institution and to the knowledge of the general public.
