- The London Ambulance Service recorded its highest ever number of life-threatening emergencies on Wednesday.
- The unprecedented demand was attributed to the “extreme heat” affecting the capital.
- It responded to 642 category one calls, which include the most serious and life-threatening incidents.
- More than 400 additional ambulance crews have been deployed amid the heatwave, the London Ambulance Service said earlier.
- Chief executive Jason Killens KAM said: “Our crews are working very hard in challenging conditions to care for patients and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our people for their incredible hard work.”
