A Ukrainian national suspected of spying for Russia has been extradited from Spain to Germany and is currently being held in pre-trial detention, German prosecutors said on Friday.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe said that an investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice had executed the arrest warrant against the 43-year-old man.

The Ukrainian was first arrested at the request of the German authorities near Alicante on March 24 and was subsequently released on bail.

He was transferred to Germany on Thursday.

A suspected accomplice, a 45-year-old Romanian woman, is also in German custody. Both are accused of spying on behalf of a Russian intelligence service on a man supplying drones and related components to Ukraine.
