SHAH ALAM - Umno is facing a challenging task to regain control of Terengganu in the upcoming state elections, says Dr Oh Ei Sun, the principal adviser at the Pacific Research Center of Malaysia and Senior Fellow at the Singapore Institute of International Affairs.

Despite the presence of former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said as a candidate in the elections, Oh said asserted that the party faces an uphill battle in the state.

“It's an uphill battle” he said this during Sinar Daily's Voting Nation Live programme.

Dr. Oh said caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar holds significant respect among voters in Terengganu as he holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Oh said Samsuri is seen as the next generation of Pas.

“He might have the best intention for Terengganu and to develop the state's infrastructural," said Oh.
