Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Umno Communications Director Ghazalie Ansing said the actions of the five Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen who chose to support Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor revealed their true colours as GRS puppets.

He claimed that the five party defectors are merely out to further their own interests after being swayed by Hajiji’s offers.

“They have forgotten that their current position is due to the people’s support for Umno and BN.

“Because of unity, true party leaders will remain faithful to the party’s decision, as opposed to the five assemblymen who are puppets for opposing the party.

“They are defectors who are willing to be exploited to attack their own party merely to ensure that they continue to enjoy the wealth and power they now have,” he said.

According to Ghazalie, the five defectors were willing to plead and beg for sympathy before becoming BN representatives, but once they won, they began to show their true colours.

He said Umno must take serious action to teach the assemblymen in question a lesson, including sacking, if necessary.

He said the time has come for Sabah Umno to nominate new leaders to ensure the party’s strength and unity in making decisions.

“I believe these five defectors have booked tickets to leave Umno, thus it is up to the party leadership’s judgement to take immediate action.

“Of course, there are numerous more people who could be nominated as leaders in the future.

“There is no purpose in maintaining these five defectors because they will eventually turn into GRS puppets who will burn their own party for personal benefit,” he said.
