A total of 77.97 per cent voters came out to exercise their right to franchise in the elections to six urban local bodies (ULBs) in Una district on Sunday. The elections were held to the Municipal Councils of Mehatpur-Basdehra and Santoshgarh, besides Daulatpur Chowk, Gagret, Amb and Tahliwal Nagar Panchayats. The Municipal Councils of Mehatpur-Basdehra and Santoshgarh, besides Amb Nagar Panchayat have nine wards each while Daulatpur Chowk, Gagret and Tahliwal Nagar Panchayats have seven wards each, thus making it a total of 48 wards in six urban local bodies. One polling station was set up in each of the wards except Ward No. 6 in Amb where two polling booths were in place.
A minor incident involving Una MLA Satpal Satti was reported on social media where he was seen in the polling booth of Ward No. 6 of the Santoshgarh Municipal Council. However, the matter was resolved and was not reported.
