The Ambala police have registered a case against nine people under various charges, including attempt to murder, for attacking JJP leader Vivek Chaudhary and his associates with sharp-edged weapons in Ambala Cantonment on Saturday evening.

The case has been registered against Vishal, Sarabjeet Singh, Kamaljeet, Daler, Naveen, Arvind, Sahil, Manoj and Deepak, all residents of Ambala.

In his complaint, Vivek Chaudhary stated that he runs a transport business and holds a permit to operate buses from Ambala Cantonment to Bihar. On Saturday evening, he, along with his partner Pratap Singh, Heman, Lakhwinder Singh and Jashandeep Singh, were on their way to the Lal Kurti police post to file a complaint.

“We were heading towards the police post when Vishal, Sarabjeet Singh, Kamaljeet, Naveen, Arvind, Sahil, Manoj, Deepak and others attacked us with sharp-edged weapons and sticks. The attackers have been operating a tour-and-travel business without a permit. As I opposed them and filed complaints against their illegal operations, we were attacked,” Vivek said.

During the attack, Vivek sustained an injury to his thigh, while his associates suffered injuries to their heads, stomachs and arms. Vivek, Heman and Jashandeep are currently undergoing treatment at PGI-Chandigarh.

In the incident, Vishal and three other accused also sustained injuries. All the injured were admitted to Civil Hospital Ambala Cantonment.

Upon receiving information, SHO of Parao Police Station, Devender Kumar, reached the hospital to inquire into the matter.

SHO Kumar said, “We received reports of a clash between two groups near the bus stand, in which nine people were injured. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against nine individuals. Three of them—Sarabjeet, Vishal, and Kamaljeet—have been arrested. Vishal and Kamaljeet have been sent to judicial custody, while a remand of Sarabjeet Singh has been obtained.”

He added, “Vivek Chaudhary has a permit to operate buses from Ambala Cantonment to Bihar, while some individuals were engaged in a tour-and-travel business without authorisation. The permitted transporter had asked the unauthorised operators to stop and directions were also issued by the RTO Ambala, but they continued their illegal operations. Last evening, they attacked Vivek and his associates over this dispute. Further investigation is underway and the remaining accused will be arrested soon. Additionally, another FIR has been registered against the unauthorised tour-and-travel operators for their illegal activities.”
