A scooter found without a registration plate under suspicious circumstances at Tehsil Chowk here on Friday night triggered a major police response, prompting the deployment of a bomb disposal squad, and heightened security measures in the area.
SSP Surendra Lamba personally supervised the operation. Police personnel carried out checks for several hours amid fears of a possible security threat. The situation was resolved after an area resident, identified as Rajat Gupta, approached the police and claimed ownership of the scooter. According to Lamba, the owner told the police that he had left the scooter unlocked at the chowk before leaving in a car, asking an associate to collect the scooter later. The SSP said the police had taken possession of the scooter as it was being driven without a registration plate.
