KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) continues to attract new members, reflecting its relevance in Sabah politics and its role as a platform for those seeking to contribute to the state’s future, said Deputy President Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
“We believe people who want to contribute to Sabah should have the opportunity to do so through a platform that shares their dedication to the state and its people.
“We welcome those who share our commitment and hope our new members will grow with the party, contribute their ideas and work alongside fellow members towards common goals,” he said.
Joniston was speaking at a ceremony to receive about 50 PBS membership application forms at Kampung Nulu on Friday.
Among those applying to join PBS were Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) Kiulu division youth chief Juanson Moidin and former Kiulu People Development Leader (PPM) Suali Sikir.
On the state’s political landscape, Joniston, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Information Chief, said that unity among coalition partners was crucial to maintaining political stability and ensuring effective governance.
He said GRS provided a common framework for its component parties to govern Sabah, enabling the state administration to focus on its priorities and deliver on its responsibilities.
“Political stability under the GRS-led government is crucial to ensuring the administration can concentrate on its priorities and deliver on its responsibilities.
“For that, we must work as partners, respect one another’s roles and remain focused on the interests of the state and its people,” he said.
Joniston said PBS’s experience working with other political parties over the years, including before the formation of GRS, provided a strong foundation for continued cooperation within the coalition.
He said PBS would draw on that experience to foster mature and constructive relationships among coalition partners while continuing to support the GRS-led government and Sabah’s development.
