The Customary Banquet of Appreciation, graced by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, marked the conclusion of Al-Sultan Abdullah’s tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 30. The event, held at the Ministry of Defence’s Wisma Perwira Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), saw the attendance of 370 guests from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Among the distinguished guests were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and his wife Datin Seri Rosni Omar, as well as Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman and his wife Puan Seri Ramlah Dawi.
Al-Sultan Abdullah ascended to the throne on January 31, 2019, succeeding the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V. The evening commenced with the singing of the National Anthem upon the King and Queen's arrival, followed by the procession of the Ensigns of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The Chief of Defence Force sought His Majesty’s consent to commence the ceremony with a Congratulatory Toast to the King, followed by the singing of the Negaraku once more. His Majesty then addressed the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), accompanied by the force’s official song, before the banquet commenced.
The banquet featured a presentation of the Seven Wills of the Malay Rulers through a multimedia montage, as well as musical performances by local artists, adding a cultural touch to the event.
