UNITY within the party is a vital component in facing the road to Malaysia’s 16th General Election (GE16), said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar, urging leaders and members to consolidate efforts at every level.
“This is the moment we need to focus, not only on ensuring a stable government, but our unity must be a prerequisite before approaching others,” she said during a grassroots engagement tour in Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
“The spirit of tonight needs to be showcased so that in the next 24 months, all party leaders at the state and branch levels can be seen as a solid front for the party and the government.”
She emphasised that grassroots engagement and party unity must revolve around the principle of public interest as the party’s core struggle.
“To that end, several training sessions under the political academy have been conducted with the Youth Wing (AMK) and the Women’s Wing, which need to be coordinated comprehensively,” she added.
“As a party in the government, it is our responsibility to train women and young people to be able to translate ideas related to education and employment into tangible implementation.”
The event was also attended by PKR Women’s Chief Fadhlina Sidek, who also serves as Malaysia’s Minister of Education.
The upcoming PKR 2025–2028 internal election will see a one-on-one contest for the position of Deputy President between Nurul Izzah and incumbent Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, while Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will retain his presidency unopposed.
The PKR National Congress, including the AMK and Women’s Congresses, is scheduled to take place from 21 to 24 May in Johor Bahru, with polling set for 23 May. - May 20, 2025
