ISKANDAR PUTERI - Incumbent assemblyman Alwiyah Talib secured an easy victory in the Endau state seat after defeating three opponents in the Johor state election on March 12.
According to unofficial results, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate defeated Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Saiful Nizam, Parti Orang Asli Malaysia's (ASLI) Jati Awang, and Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Hasnul Hakimi Hussin.
The victory drew significant attention as Alwiyah, who previously won the seat under the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) banner, made the decision to defect to Umno.
Her selection as a BN candidate caught widespread interest because she had left Bersatu less than a month prior to the election.
