JOHOR BAHRU – Pakatan Harapan (PH) claims it has won eight out of the 56 state seats in the 16th Johor state election as of 9.50pm today.
PH Johor election machinery director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, during a press conference at the PH Information Centre here, said one of the seats was secured by Dr Maszlee Malik in Puteri Wangsa based on the latest unofficial Johor election results.
"The Election Commission (EC) has announced that PH candidates have won eight seats so far despite facing challenges throughout the campaign.
"Of the eight seats, six were won by DAP, while PKR and Amanah each secured a seat.
"We are still awaiting confirmation on several seats involving DAP and PKR," he said.
Also present was Amanah communications director Khalid Samad.
In the five-cornered contest, Maszlee obtained 30,228 votes, followed by Barisan Nasional candidate Teow Chia Ling with 26,654 votes.
The official results for all state seats will be announced by the EC after the vote tallying process is completed at the official counting centres, tonight.
