The Sirsa district administration has decided to take strict action against individuals who have failed to deposit demolition charges despite receiving notices from the Town and Country Planning Department.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the district task force chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed cases related to unauthorised constructions and illegal colonies in urban and controlled areas.
Officials said in cases where demolition charges remained unpaid, the recovery amount would be entered in the land revenue records (Jamabandi) of the landowners concerned. As a result, property owners will have to clear the outstanding dues before carrying out land transactions, obtaining loans, or completing other revenue-related processes.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to take action, particularly in cases that were more than three years old and where demolition charges had still not been deposited. He stressed that there should be no laxity in dealing with illegal constructions and unauthorised colonies.
Sharma instructed the department to coordinate with other agencies to ensure swift and effective enforcement. He said strict legal action should be taken against those violating the rules.
District Town Planner Karmveer Singh said at the meeting that the department was continuously taking action against illegal constructions and colonies. He said the Enforcement Bureau had been directed to expedite investigations in cases where FIRs had already been registered and submit chargesheets in court at the earliest.
He added that the investigations in pending cases where chargesheets had not yet been filed should also be accelerated.
Among those present at the meeting were SDM Rajendra Kumar, ASP Adarshdeep, PWD Executive Engineer Sanjay Sabharwal, District Attorney Vinod Bhambhu and other officials.
