Jubilation over the birth of a child in the family turned into mourning in a village here on Sunday, after the child’s father died from electrocution while filling water in an air cooler at their home, police said.
Family members said Mukesh (24) had got married around a year ago and on Saturday night, his wife Jyoti had given birth to a son. The wave of celebration over the birth of a child ended abruptly at Mukesh’s tragic death.
According to police, Mukesh was filling water in a cooler at his home in Nauwapur village under Pipri police station area on Sunday morning. During this, he came into contact with a live wire and sustained severe electrical burns.
His family members rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The station house officer, Pipri, said the body has been sent for post-mortem, and further legal proceedings are under way.
