[Updated] BN refutes GPS claim to forming Federal Government with PN, GPS, GRS

(Kuching, Nov 20) Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) president, Abang Johari has released a media statement confirming that GPS will join Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to form a stable and strong federal government. 

"We are all aware that no party has a simple majority to form a government after the 15th General Election (GE-15) yesterday," he said in a press conference at the PBB headquarters today.

He said the decision was made to strengthen and stabilize the country and the well-being of the people. - TVS

He added that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is GPS choice to be the prime minister candidate.

In Muhyiddin Yassin's Tweet, he stated that he has obtained the support from GPS and GRS to be appointed as the next Prime Minister. BN's support, however, was not mentioned in his media statement.

On a side note, Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN) refutes the claim by GPS, stating that he has not discussed the matter with GPS nor agreed to PN in regards with forming a federal government together. 

He added that all BN MPs who have just won the parliamentary seats had given him the mandate to decide which coalition to work with in order to form a federal government.
