Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity is in the final stages of completing the project to upgrade the 132kV Segaliud-Dam Road transmission line to a higher voltage of 275kV.
The project, which will soon be commissioned by Sabah Electricity, would enable the transmission of a larger and more cost-effective energy capacity from power stations in Sabah’s west to east coast.
The initiative would also reduce reliance on diesel and Marine Fuel Oil-based power generation, which is relatively expensive and requires significant government subsidies.
The 275kV Segaliud-Dam Road transmission line, set to be operational by mid-April, would increase energy transmission capacity from 200MW to 400MW daily to East Sabah.
Sabah Electricity Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, said the final upgrade works are being carried out from March 22 - 29.
“Sabah Electricity aims to complete the works before the Hari Raya celebration to ensure uninterrupted and stable power supply for consumers, especially during the festive season,” he said.
