PUTRAJAYA, Oct 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today confirmed that Datuk Ewon Benedick remains in his Cabinet despite the Upko president’s recent threat to resign over Sabah’s revenue rights.

Anwar said the entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister “was there” at this morning’s weekly Cabinet meeting.

When asked about Ewon’s plan to quit, Anwar replied briefly: “Not yet.”

Last Sunday, the Penampang MP said he would step down from his federal post if the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) challenges a court ruling affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to claim 40 per cent of federal revenue collected from the state.

Ewon said his stance reflected his commitment to defend Sabah’s rights under the Federal Constitution and the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

The issue has become a rallying point in Sabah ahead of the state election on November 29.
