Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s claim to 40 per cent of the annual net revenue collected by the federal from the State is among five key proposals made by Upko to the Ministry of Finance for the 2023 Budget.

Upko President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau submitted the memorandum to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz during an engagement session on the 2023 Budget proposals in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

“Upko still adheres to Sabah’s rights as enshrined in Article 112C, Section 2(1) Part 4, Tenth Schedule of the Federal Constitution, and disagrees with the decision to give special grants through an annual grant that is increased 4.7 times or RM125.6 million (2022) compared to RM26.7 million since 1973 because the decision was made without taking into account the 40 per cent right,” said Madius in a statement, Wednesday.
