KOTA KINABALU: Upko Youth has welcomed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) announcement that it will monitor the upcoming Sabah election.
Its chief, Felix Joseph Saang (pic), said the statement should not remain mere words but be translated into firm action on the ground to prove the agency’s seriousness.
He urged MACC to “walk the talk” by closely monitoring all campaign activities, including attempts at vote-buying, political inducements, abuse of government machinery, and any form of bribery.
Felix also called for stern action to be taken regardless of political position or affiliation, saying only consistent enforcement can restore public confidence in MACC’s integrity and independence.
He further suggested the number of monitoring officers be increased from 40 to at least one per constituency to ensure wider coverage across Sabah’s challenging terrain.
