A major uproar broke out during the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Zila Parishad members in Shimla after family members and supporters were directed to leave the premises before the commencement of the ceremony. The decision triggered strong objections from BJP workers, who opposed the move and expressed their displeasure. As the situation escalated, the disagreement turned into a commotion, with protesters raising slogans against Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
Despite the disruption, the Deputy Commissioner proceeded to administer the oath to newly elected members from all 25 wards of the district.
However, tensions continued outside the venue, with party workers carrying on their protest. As the Deputy Commissioner was leaving after the ceremony, protesters allegedly obstructed his movement, leading to a brief altercation with police personnel. He was subsequently escorted safely to his office.
The situation was later brought under control, though the incident briefly disrupted the proceedings and created tension at the venue.
