Urijah Faber has a clear opinion about who Conor McGregor should face in his MMA comeback.

The former two-division titleholder hasn’t competed since suffering a broken leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.

McGregor has stated he intends to return at the UFC White House event on June 14.

The Irishman still doesn’t have an opponent as he gets ready for what will be his first bout in half a decade.

Back in 2015, Faber and McGregor developed a good rapport during their time as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 22.

Faber recently gifted McGregor an AI training dummy to support his preparations for a long-awaited return.

He has now suggested who he believes McGregor should face when he steps back into the cage later this year.

“Nate Diaz. That’s a trilogy that needs to happen,” the UFC Hall of Famer told Bloody Elbow.

Nate is an amazing figure. I mean, there is no fight bigger than that for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

Both guys deserve to be recognized. Two of the most charismatic, entertaining guys in the sport.

“That’s the fight to make, in my opinion.”

Is Nate Diaz planning a return to the UFC?

Nate Diaz wrapped up his 15-year stint with the UFC at UFC 279 back in September 2022.

After submitting Tony Ferguson, he announced plans to focus on boxing instead. Since then, the 40-year-old has split his two fights in the ring, going up against Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal.

Diaz is looking to come back to the UFC in 2026 if a fight with McGregor or another opponent on his radar comes together.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: “I would like to fight somebody. I’m ready to get back into real action.

“I want to fight either McGregor. I want to fight maybe Dustin Poirier if he stops being such a p—- and then maybe Mike Perry, we’ll see what happens in the future, though.”

A third meeting between McGregor and Diaz seems like an obvious choice, but there’s no word yet on whether it will happen.
