US denies Palestinian President Abbas visa to attend UN General Assembly

WASHINGTON (United States) – The United States has denied Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas a visa to enter the country to attend the UN General Assembly in New York later this month, a source familiar with the matter said.

In a separate statement, the State Department accused the Palestinian Authority and other organisations of “failure to reform”. The move marks the second consecutive year that the United States has denied Abbas a visa. –AFP
